Tarangire
Safari Guide
Baobab landscapes and elephant herds south of the Serengeti route — the classic first or last park on a Northern Circuit safari paired with Serengeti and Ngorongoro.
Tarangire National Park sits on the popular Northern Circuit approach from Arusha toward Manyara, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti. It is often the first wilderness stop — and one of the best elephant experiences in Tanzania.
In the dry season, animals concentrate along the Tarangire River. Huge elephant herds move between baobabs and riverine woodland, with lion, leopard, buffalo, and rich birdlife.
If your main goal is Serengeti, Tarangire is still worth 1–2 nights: it adds habitat variety and reduces the feeling that every day looks the same.
Pairing tip: Arusha → Tarangire → Ngorongoro → Serengeti is a proven flow.

Elephant concentrations
Especially dry season — herds of dozens to hundreds around water.

Baobab vistas
Some of Tanzania's most photogenic safari landscapes.

Birding
Hundreds of species; outstanding for mixed-level birders.

Fewer vehicles than Seronera peak
A calmer rhythm before or after Serengeti's busier loops.
June–October dry season is peak for river concentrations and elephant viewing.
Green season still works for birding and lush scenery, with more dispersed game.
